As the Juneteenth holiday approaches, you’ll start to see various symbols of Blackness across the country. Front lawns, apartment balconies, and clothing with the pan-African flag, “Black Power” fist, and other celebratory symbols will be everywhere. But did you know there’s a specific flag for Juneteenth?  In fact, it has a backstory that goes back to the late 1990s. Capital B spoke with Ben Haith, the flag’s creator, and others to learn more about its history and impact. Leaning from the North it cast strong dark shadows. Even on the South side, left of waterfall, the sunlight was dim because of the afternoon angle which was showing up through overhead tree branches and leaves. It was obvious I needed to open the aperture for a longer exposure. But even with several shots, I still took it into Photoshop for exposure enhancement, along with other broad as well as focused measures. The intent was to deepen the view presented to a maximum impact. Now the waterfall as well as the moss-laden basalt rock wall have equal impact when viewing from your particular room's wall.
